It has been one month and a week since my last post and clearly I have not been keeping up with my promise to keep an updated blog.
Maybe because it takes something like a car accident to give me inspiration to write.
Yes, I was involved in a car accident on Tuesday. It wasn’t serious and no one was injured.
However it did get me thinking again.
As I was going through the process getting the proper paperwork done, I was struck at the thought of being honest and truthful.
Why is it that people these days go through the whole process of lying to one another to get out of trouble?
Where has sincerity and honesty gone to?
I admit that I was wrong during the accident, but clearly both parties were at fault, yet we deny it so strongly.
It was apparent to me that the driver was on the phone, as at the moment she exited her car, she was talking on her cellphone. I however did not bring this up, as it will be my word against hers and that won’t help me.
Is it because of money that our human morales have deteriorated to this level?
Is it wrong for me to want to be honest and truthful? Or is it a fool’s errand? I have heard people telling me to be honest but not too honest.
But what does that mean?
I guess it boils down to the situation. There are some things in life that we hide in fear of how people will perceive us, because let’s be honest (for once) that not everyone that you meet is of the best of character.
I’m lucky to have a group of friends that I could trust, and when I do find people of that sort, I am never afraid to be honest with them.
And trust me, when you know people with whom you can be honest with, life just gets much better.
So let’s try to be honest for a change, or maybe once in a while, because I believe that it’s truly beautiful when you meet someone that shows his or her true colours.
