it’s strange really, spending 4 years studying design and ending up enjoying a totally different kinda job in the end.

I know it has only been 1 week and a half, but so far I’m enjoying my new career. Today, I experienced a dejá vu moment that prompted me to write this post.

I’ve actually dream that I was reading on finance on wikipedia in my office with my now colleague sitting next to me. I woke up, thinking how silly it was that I would end up in a finance career and I joked about my dream with someone, but I didn’t remember who.

Now here I am, working for HSBC Global Services, studying and understanding every nick-nack of corporate finance, investments and credits.

The strange shift time to incorporate our job with the European branches happens to be something I didn’t expect to familiarize myself with, but ever since starting, I’ve taken public transports to work and I enjoy these moments everyday (and not just because of the eye candies I see). I haven’t been stuck in the rush hour jam and I have plenty of ‘me’ time on my way to work.

Somehow, walking to work through the crowd makes me feel alive, plus I get some exercise done at the same time. I guess all those days spent driving to work, looking for parking and straight to the destination didn’t give me enough exposure to what our country has to offer.

I even felt good after helping a young lady up when she tripped off the sidewalk today.

These little things completes me.

I guess things starts getting better when you convince yourself that it will be better everyday.

I can’t feel anymore happy than I am right now. All I need now is just to hang out with my babes and spread the love. Where are you girls hiding? I miss you all.

Sorry I’ve gotten around in blogging lately. I just couldn’t get my head around it to get in the mood.

So basically, on my birthday itself, I was down with fever, which was weird because I haven’t fallen into a fever in like… years? and ironically I got it on my 23rd Birthday. Nora suspects it’s a curse from spending my birthday hunting for houses. LOLz, you kid Nora, you kid…

But on a lighter note, I decided to drag my ass up and go out for a celebration the following day with the gang. A huge thanks to those who made it, Nora, Erica, Andrew, Azim, Ezani, Shannon and Fazlin and an eternally grateful hug and kiss to the tween for organizing it all, I love you to bits and pieces. I apologize however for unable to feel any better to enjoy the night.

My fever is now gone and I only have weak coughs which is slowly leaving. While recovering from my fever however, I manage to finish 2 seasons of Canada’s Next Top Model (Season 2 was awesome) and currently catching up with Project Runway Season 4 on youtube. I got a new game as well on the Nintendo DS (The World Ends With You) which I play on the KTM on the way to work everyday.

Well, I will be working half day tomorrow, because it’s suppose to be a public holiday in UK, but we have to come back for some side work. We however get replacement leave for it, yay! I also have to decide to plan a 1-week break which is compulsory for all working staff under HDPM. So… when should I take it?

I have finally found myself a job, after 2 months of bumming around. I’m officially a Global Support Executive for HSBC Global Resourcing. Today, was the first day of Induction out of three.

My job provides me with free transportation to work, so I had to get up at 5am this morning to get ready for the bus to pick me up at 6.10am. Arrived at the Cyberjaya branch by 6.45am and started induction with a class for nearly 30 people?

We had the usual ice breaking, and the introduction and relevant stuff relating to our jobs, then we had a tour around the building and took pictures for our pass card. The day where they decide to do that is the day a pimple decide to make me Marilyn Monroe’s distant chinese cousin.

We finished by 4 and the bus was all waiting to depart at 4.15pm. I ran up to my bus, number 704, and went off for nearly an hour plus with a full bladder and a bad cough. When we stopped at Kepong only did I realize that I was on the wrong bus. Apparently route 704 has 2 buses, one towards 1 Utama and Kepong, the other to Summit USJ and Kelana Jaya LRT, which was the one I was suppose to board.

meh.

Lucky for me there was another inductee mate on the same bus that was suppose to get off at the Kelana Jaya LRT. We both hopped on the Kepong KTM and headed towards KL Sentral, then from there I departed for Kerinchi LRT where Skooidi, God bless her soul, decided to give me ride back home. Thanks Skooidi! You’re a blast!

By the time I arrive home, it was nearly 7pm.

And on the day such an adventure occured, I didn’t bring my camera.

Sigh.

So apparently hitz.fm wanted to do something for World Earth Day, so after KL Freeze just happened about a week back, they decided to do that again.

Yay?

not.

I thought that KL Freeze was an exciting event and was pretty impressive, but I was rather disappointed at how it ended. I mean… cheering? Oh, ok, the whole Malaysia Boleh! spirit was a great gesture, but we’re already forsaking the whole meaning of the freeze event.

And now hitz.fm wants to do it again, just after nearly a week since the last freeze. Attention much? Why not give it a month? or a year before doing it again? There’s so many more other things to do for Earth Day. Doing the same thing that just happened a week ago is just plain tasteless.

Oh well… maybe we can go over and take pictures of people going silly.

I was going through Aliya’s blogspot when I stumbled upon this cute little thing. It’s based on the movie The Golden Compass and it shows you your own Dæmon based on a series of questions asked in the website.

I’ve always been a fan of these Dæmon thing after watching the movie. In that world, your spirit is in a form of an animal that is outside of your body, I’ve always wondered what my Dæmon would look like if it were true. Now that I’ve done the questionnaire, I’m pretty proud of my own Dæmon, it’s a freaking Lynx! She’s purdy and adorable! miaaoooo! Although I can’t really make out her name. I can’t even pronounce her name.

So have a look at Hermonystra and see if she’s exactly what I am! The load might take a while, so please be patient.

Anyway, on a different matter but from Aliya’s blog as well, I found out that the Beauty & The Beast broadway musical is coming to Malaysia from June 24th to July 3rd! YAY! Can’t wait for that!

Ahjim’s band, Witherspoon performed at Laundry Bar last night, in conjunction with Project Bazooka together with 2 other bands, Throne Away and Couple, but we only stayed for Witherspoon. It was pretty good, since it was my first time watching a local act performing, definitely not what I expected, and the bar was crowded! Lucky for us, we arrived earlier and got seat right in front of the stage.

It was a great night, although I was the only misplaced chinese dood amongst the group (like I always have been) but I had fun and I met new people to hang out with. For more pics click here.

However, I have no chocolate to make, the night is warm, I don’t have a balcony and the night is as dark as an eclipse.

it’s time to go for lunch! is all about type design by the graphic designer Sébastien Sanfilippo from Belgium, however his last post was 9th February of this year.

While stumbling this morning, I stumbled upon his blog and his latest entries about his final project on typeface design was superb. He enrolled in the Type & Media Postgraduate course at KABK (The Royal Academy of Art/Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten Den Haag) in The Hague, Netherlands.

His earlier entry on the earlier student batch’s final project has some of the best typeface and design I have ever seen. He even presented his own work (although he wasn’t graduating) and I’m in love with his fonts (his work was Congo by Sébastien Sanfilippo). Another post that I fell in love in was one of his class projects where he had to carve fonts into marble, check it out here and here.

I have been really into typeface for quite a while now, my favourites are always the Serif (eg. Old Style, Transitional, Modern, Script and etc.) which I find really sexy and professional.

Well, last night, after some wishful thinking, Rosheen called me up and invited me to one of our cyber-cafe-COD4-multiplayer-deathmatch at Blitzone which is just behind KDU college along the LDP. We, including Big Omar and John, started deathmatching on COD4 and I started getting annoyed by some prick in the game and got a little woozy after a while. We played for 3 hours and finally left for mamak for some good old ‘minum’ session. Note that it was already 1am when we got there.

The conversation was pleasant, we started talking about the game, and that prick and some other games, but before I knew it, Rosheen, Big Omar and John started talking about supernatural stuff and ghost encounters and shit like that. I was freaked.

Literally.

I wanted to just excuse myself and head back home, since it was getting late, but damn ghost stories freaked the hell outta me that I couldn’t leave. It went on and on till like 4am+ and finally we started talking about something else. Big Omar reminded me that once the sky started going a little blue, all the spiritual mumbo jumbo would be over. That calmed me a little…

Being all confident and singing along to the songs on my CD all the way back 5.30 in the morning could only do so much. I didn’t dare look at the side of the roads, getting nervous when I stopped at traffic lights, refusing to look at any houses on the way through USJ, glancing at the rear view mirror once in a while and freaking out when I heard a ‘thump’ from the back of my car, I was a nervous rack. I scurried back home, changed and jump into my bed once the clock struck 6am.

Once I woke up, I greeted the morning light with all my heart and promise myself not to be around when anyone starts sharing mamak ghost stories after sundown.

So for Brian’s birthday today, I decided to bring him out for lunch, and knowing that he mentioned something about Wendy’s to Adrian few weeks back, I brought him to Wendy’s first flagship store in Sunway Pyramid.

It was crowded, but for only 2 of us, it’s rather easy to find seats. We both bought the 1/2 Pounder Cheeseburger in small size. I was surprised to find out that the burgers were rather cheap, and they also have baked potatoes in their menu. The pounder cheeseburger (1/4, 1/2, 3/4) are slightly more pricey then the rest, but the others range from RM8+ to RM12+. The burger was alright, but I’d still pick Carl’s Jr. over this because they have a more varieties for American burgers than Wendy’s.

My verdict? A nice alternative to McDonald’s, especially when you’re so sick of eating it ever since you started University life.
